The collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for the coming general elections will end on Friday (today).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed February 8 as the last day for collection of PVCs in order to adequately prepare for the general elections.
So far, Nigerians from all walks of life have shown their readiness to take part in the process of returning or electing their leaders at various levels for another four years.
With a few days to the elections, electorates took to Twitter to display their PVCs with a call on their fellow compatriots to get theirs, stressing that it was important to be part of the selection process.
There have also been campaigns by artistes and civil society groups encouraging electorates to go and get their PVC as this was the only way they could decide in the destiny of the nation.
The presidential and national assembly elections will hold on February 16, while governorship and state Houses of Assembly polls have been scheduled for March 2.
Meanwhile, INEC chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has vowed not to share his role as returning officer of the presidential elections with anyone.
Yakubu said this on Thursday during an interactive meeting with Catholic Bishops in Abuja, while reacting to comments still trailing the appointment of Amina Zakari who is reportedly related to President Muhammadu Buhari as the head of the committee on collation centre.
“The chairman of INEC is the chief returning officer for the presidential election and I am not going to share that responsibility with anyone,” he said.
He also urged Nigerians to always draw the attention of the commission to any infraction in the national voter register for rectification.
